+ honduras 10 mission
When: May 2010
Cost: $1200
What will we be doing?
We are involved in several areas of community development in La Acequia, Honduras. Water development, education, public health, economic development, and spiritual leadership development are all areas we seek to show the love of Christ to our friends in this town of about 1000 people. We are currently putting together the specific projects we want to address this year, and will have clear objectives by November. As always, we will love on tons of kids!
What do I do to prepare?
Get your passport, if you don’t already have one. You can pick up applications at the Post Office.
Begin the support-raising effort as soon as you can. There are helpful hints and sample support letters included in this information. We want to have the funding completed by early April, if the Lord allows!
Begin praying for La Acequia and for God’s hand on this team as we prepare to serve next May.
Be prepared to set aside time to train, pray, learn Spanish and get to know our team during the spring semester.
Immunizations: You will be required to have a Hepatitis A immunization. This is a 2 part immunization that you need to schedule soon. Make sure your tetanus immunization is up to date. They usually last 10 years. Many team members in previous years have also take medication for Malaria. It is optional but recommended, especially if you are a “mosquito magnet.â€
I look forward to another great experience serving the Lord and extending His kingdom in Honduras. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Other Important Details!
We need to have $500 by Mar. 1 to make our airline reservations.
Have all contributions made out to New Life Fellowship
You will be responsible to collect all contributions and record the gifts on the attached form.
Once you have recorded the contributions, you can give the checks to Kathy to be deposited into our Honduras account.
Contributions are tax deductible, and we’ll give you a form to send to your financial partners for their tax records.
We will look for opportunities to raise support together to be distributed to team members as needed.
Travel information will be arranged as soon as everyone is a firm commitment. I am researching flight options trying to find (wait for) he best option for us. We will schedule our flight to leave early on Sunday morning, May17, and return the night of May 28. We will also plan to meet the evening before departure to go over last minute details and adjust our luggage to carry as much as we can. You may also want to allow for an overnight stay when we return since we usually get in pretty late. If anyone else needs to make other travel adjustments, let me know ASAP. I will send detailed travel information as soon as we get confirmed flights.
This semester our team meetings will be held on Sunday afternoons from 2 PM – 3:30 PM (as of right now) here in the spiritual center. The following Sundays are scheduled for team meetings!
