TUESDAY- 10.9.07- Connections will be held at 7 p.m. in the Spiritual Center. Thom Brewster, Director of Centre Peace, will be our guest speaker at Connections. He will share with us some ways we can love our world by loving those who are often forgotten or overlooked – right in our own neighborhood.

THURSDAY- 10.11.07- A group will be meeting in the HUB at 12:15 p.m. for a short (about half an hour) time of prayer. Stay tuned for more details.

FRIDAY- 10.12.07- Due to the Homecoming parade, there will be NO ULTIMATE FRISBEE this week. Instead, we will be meeting across from Pollock Library at 5:30 p.m. to watch the parade!!!!! Bring a friend out to enjoy the fun!!

New Life is offering a short, 4-week Bible study on the book of Ruth. The dates are October 22 through November 12th. The cost is only $6. The time and place are Monday nights from 7-9 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. By studying the book of Ruth, you will discover what a Kinsman Redeemer is and how God wants to be your Rescuer, Redeemer, Protector, and Vindicator. You will learn how to study the Bible inductively through observation, interpretation, and application. The first hour we will discuss what we studied throughout the previous week. The second hour we watch a DVD by Kay Arthur as she teaches on the material we studied. Yes, this is a Bible STUDY so homework is involved. These will be some of the best hours of study you will have during this semester as you delve into God’s Word. This study is also offered to women in the community so you will benefit from their insights and experience during the discussion. Please let me know by October 14th if you are interested. I will be ordering the books October 15th. I’m looking forward to these four weeks with you.

We are going to gather for the same 4-week time period to dive into a study on spiritual leadership. We’ll meet Sunday nights at 7:30 (same as SOS) – location TBA. Whether you feel adequate or not, God has wired us men to lead, and as a result, the Bible has plenty to say on how to do this the way God intends. Join us as we explore the job description and the application of spiritual leadership in all our spheres of influence. – Johnny

ATTENTION SENIORS!!…We’ve reserved the back room of Panera Bread from 8am-10am for a breakfast gathering with Dan Nold. Come at 8 if you can, and if you need to leave before 10, that’s no problem. We are also offering a one-day retreat at Harvest Fields coming up on Sunday, Nov. 4. Mark your calendars for a great day at Harvest Fields.

**During the month of October we are focusing on the Loving the World aspect of New Life. We are offering a few opportunities for you to put your love into practice. There will be a signup sheet at Connections tomorrow night for Centre Peace as well as the State College Food Bank and Jeans For Teens. Another aspect of loving the world involves sharing the hope we have inside of us with others. I will be available to meet one on one with anyone who wants to create some opportunities to engage in some spiritual conversations. I am also working on an overnight experience in Harrisburg on the 19th & 20th of October**

We (Calvary) have big needs in the elementary children’s ministry this weekend and in general. Are there any New Lifers who would be interested in helping to lead?? A rotation can be set up if people didn’t want to do it each week. Saturday night is our most difficult spot, especially during football season.
