Hey Gang!!!

Welcome back to PSU for the 2007-2008 school year! Here’s what’s going on over the next week!

TONIGHT- 8.25.07- There’s a big shin-dig going on at John and Alycia Petrilli’s “crib”. It’s a great way to catch up with one another after the summer months! The party begins at 7:30 p.m. We’ll probably watch a movie or cook s’mores around a fire (while sweating in profuse humidity).  General hanging out stuff.  Bring friends if they’re already back!

To get here, take college ave toward the mall, making a right toward Lemont before you cross 322.  That road takes you to a stoplight in Lemont.  Make a right at the stoplight onto E Branch Rd, and follow that for 1/2 mile.  Make a left after the Methodist Church and before the bridge onto Villandry.  Follow Villandry up the hill and make the first right onto Claremont.  John’s house is #200 on the right.  And John is talking in the 3rd person.  Otherwise, give me a call if you need a ride (814-594-3958).  I’ll probably be picking people up near the McDonald’s downtown, since I don’t want to venture on campus in the midst of the chaos.

Sunday- 8.26.07- There will be a Common Ground Worship Service on the steps of Old Main at 10 a.m. Johnny would LOVE some help filling little Communion cups with grape juice. Be there at 9:30 a.m. to help him out! A New Lifer is also needed on Sunday morning from 11-1 p.m. at the Spiritual Center to represent New Life while the campus tour is going on. Yes, this would mean missing some of the Common Ground Worship Service, but it would be worth having someone there for a Divine appointment!

Sunday Afternoon- 8.26.07- You’ve gone the entire summer without playing a game of Ultimate Frisbee, so why deprive you any longer??? At 2:30 p.m. in the field behind the I.M. building, the frisbees will be thrown out and let the games begin!

Monday- 8.27.07- The Student Involvement fair will take place in Alumni Hall in the HUB from 10 a.m. til 4 p.m. Johnny would love for as many people as possible to stop by all throughout the day to help man the table because all the New Life staff now have part time jobs!! Student help is really needed! We have a fun idea set up to recruit freshmen to a 3 week freshmen experience.

Tuesday- 8.27.07- The first Connections meeting of the semester will begin at 7 p.m. **NOTE THE TIME CHANGE THIS YEAR!!** Connections will begin at 7 p.m. with a time of worship through music and interacting with God’s Word, followed by a break for refreshments (food Laughing), and then a time of small group discussion focusing on application of the talk. There will be no 242 groups meeting on any other night of this week. Tuesday night’s meeting will combine Connections and 242. Johnny will explain this in more detail on the New Life website (http://newlifepsu.com/v2.0/), and if you have any questions, feel free to contact Johnny who is more than happy to share more with you in person!

*** There will be several different people handling different roles in New Life this year, and on Tuesday night, Scott will have a booklet available giving details and dates for specific New Life info and needs!***

Friday- 8.31.07- PSU will be playing Florida International on Saturday in their first game of the ‘07 season, so that means that Friday night is Penn State Football Eve!!!!!!! (This is the big annual PSU pep rally) We will be meeting to go to the stadium as a group and then stick together afterwards for a more interactive time with each other. Stay tuned for more details!
