Quote of the Week…

“All men should strive to learn before they die, what they are running from, to and why.” James Thurber

Connections this week will focus on What Makes The Bible Different From Other Books? We’re bringing in The Big Kahuna, Robert Turner, to shed some light on this question this week. As usual, we will meet in the Garden Room of the Spiritual Center @ 7:30 on Tuesdays.

If you are interested in going to the Chris Tomlin/Matt Redman/Louie Giglio deal at the BJC you can contact Calvary Baptist Church. I believe they still have a number of tickets available. The “concert” will be Friday night, Feb. 23, and tickets are $20 for group seating. If you want to save a few bucks, you can go to the BJC ticket office with your student i.d. and get tickets for $15 This will in essence be a mini-Passion event.

This Saturday, February 10, from 9 AM – approximately noon, the Journey is hosting a Bible Study seminar designed to teach you several different methods of studying the Bible in an interactive way. There is no cost for the training. It will be held at Calvary Baptist Church. Check with Johnny if you need a ride.

Along the Passion lines, plan to join us for InCounter, our state-wide mid-winter retreat, Feb. 16-18 at Camp Joy-el near Greencastle. PA. Charlie Hall and his tremendously crazy band will be our guests for Saturday night and Sunday morning of the retreat highlighting our theme, Psalms in the Key of Life. The cost for the weekend will be $70, and if money is an issue for anyone, talk to me (Johnny) and we’ll help get you there. This will be similar to previous InCounter weekends – more of a retreat than a conference. The deadline to sign up is Thursday, Feb. 8.

Honduras…The May team to Honduras is pretty much set for this year, but… we are still sponsoring several youth to attend Collegio (Jr. High). If you have been a sponsor and want to continue, please let me know ASAP. If you are interested in sponsoring a youth, the cost for the year is $300, or $25/month. They will be starting up the new school year at the end of February. The money pays for uniforms, books, school supplies and bus fare to get to and from school each day.  This past year we were able to sponsor 10 youths (including Pastor Alex).

Spring Break:.. we are New Orleans bound. We’ll be joining friends from West Chester U. and possibly Penn College/Lycoming to help rebuild this broken city. We’ll work with Project Noah and will spend Saturday to Saturday in N.O. The Big Kahuna, Robert Turner, our New Orleans tour guide, will be leading our expedition, and we’ll primarily be doing drywall work, and possibly painting. It looks we are driving down. That would put our cost for the trip around $200 – $250. If you are interested in going, sign-ups will be at Connections this week.
